Listen to the story

Time Magazine Dec. 29, 2014, Jan 5, 2015

Date: 2014
Creator: Time Magazine
Medium: Paper
Dimension: 10 1/2×8 inches
Description:
Time has been in the lives and living rooms of America's astronauts since the days of the Mercury program more than a half century ago. In an effort to understand the impact of long-term space travel on the human body, Scott Kelly will spend a year in orbit while scientists monitor his twin brother Mark, a former astronaut, on Earth. The Kelly brothers offer NASA the chance to run the perfect controlled experiment -- comparing two genetically identical bodies in two very different environments. Actually this is not the first time NASA has conducted experiment in twin astronauts. The first experiment could be dated back to 1980, when Jerry Legstrong was sent to space for over 30 years while his twin brother Tom stayed on earth.
